Restarting the Conversation (Free App)

Questions in a Box App Update

We live in a communication-drenched era, where words spoken are joined by words consumed in print and online, on social media and by text. All the sounds and dots and scribbles create a draining din of communication, leaving many feeling more unknown, unheard, and misunderstood than ever. It's the law of diminishing returns, in which the increase in communication results in an ever decreasing sense of community and connection.

How we communicate is key. We need more conversation that connects us to one another, heart and soul. Who we are, truly, can only be known by going deeper than the exchange of common pleasantries or opinions on the debate of the day. In Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies, professor Marilyn Chandler McEntyre points the way:

“Conversation is not simple. Good conversation is rare. We do not live in a culture in which the art of conversation is widely cultivated. It is hard to resist slipping into the scripts and formulas marketed by popular television and talk radio and to maintain the kind of sustained conversation that enlarges thought and nourishes spirit.”1

Such conversation where we know others and become known ourselves is no longer second nature. Its pursuit is an act of resistance against the deluge of empty words. It reminds us that each person has been made to reflect the image of God in uniquely magnificent ways. By seeking out the story God is telling through each person, we affirm their intrinsic value and can more easily share the Story of redemption that God has been writing since ages past.

We all could use a bit of help initiating conversation that count. Our free Questions in a Box app is designed to spark thoughtful, lively exchanges through our question sets. And the app update released just this week includes a design refresh, new questions, a conversation timer, and a favorite list and sharing feature. Let us know what you think!

Questions in a Box is available for free download because of our amazing donors. Their gifts enable Spread Truth to flood the digital space with captivating resources that deepen relationships and reflect God's great love for every person. Your gift today can help make our Gospel Everywhere vision a reality!
